HK: More of the same please

Head Coach demands repeat performance against Sky Blues

24 November 2017

Harry Kewell will have a simple message before kick-off at the Ricoh Arena tomorrow: “More of the same please.”

The Reds take on sixth-placed Coventry City in good heart following Tuesday’s 3-1 win over another of the play-off contenders Exeter City.

And the Head Coach will implore his side to play with the same confidence and tempo against Mark Robins’ team.

HK said: “We are under no illusions that it’s going to be a tough game. Coventry have an experienced manager in Mark Robins and although we know they have lost a couple of key players to injury they are in the top six for a reason, and have been there for most of the season.

“But we have to build on Tuesday night. It was the best we’ve played since I came to the club. We scored three times and could have had more goals and we restricted them to very few opportunities.

“It’s going to be a different game tomorrow but the challenge for the players is ‘can you do what you did on Tuesday again?’

“I have no doubt they have the ability to do it. Look, we’ve got some good players and at times this season we have underperformed.

“Good sides are consistent. They don’t lose often and they build momentum with a run of good performances. That’s what we need to do. If we can build on Tuesday with another good result at Coventry then we can say we are starting to make some progress.”

Jimmy Smith (hamstring) is still missing although HK expects the captain to be back in training next week.
