MATCH PREVIEW | Bognor Regis Town

A look ahead to Tuesday evening's Sussex Senior Cup tie against the Rocks

30 October 2017

The Reds are in Sussex Senior Cup action on Tuesday evening when they host Bognor Regis Town in the First Round of the competition at the Checkatrade Stadium (7.45pm).

The game will allow Head Coach Harry Kewell to give some game time to other faces in the squad for the visit of the Conference South side before the Reds' trip to Wigan Athletic in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday.

Their midweek opposition drew 1-1 away to Truro City at the weekend and currently sit in 19th position in the league after 15 matches of the 2017-18 campaign.

Who are ya?

Bognor Regis Town won promotion from the Ryman Premier Division last season via the play-offs, defeating Dulwich Hamlet 2-1 at the start of May in front of over 3,000 people.

The result meant that the side returned to the sixth tier of English football after an eight year absence.

The side's stand-out result of the season so far has to be the 6-2 home win over Whitehawk back in August.

Haven't we met before?

The Reds and the Rocks met during pre-season back in July, and it was Harry Kewell's men who came out on top winning 2-1. Late goals from Moussa Sanoh and Dennon Lewis cancelled out Ollie Pearce's opener.

The two sides also met in the semi-finals of this competition last season - and Dermot Drummy's men ran out 3-2 winners after extra-time. Lewis Young's opener was overturned by two Bognor goals, before an own goal late on for the Reds sent the game to extra-time with a 2-2 scorel

Enzio Boldewijn then curled in an effort from the edge of the area in the 119th minute to send the Reds into the final of the competition.
