Five points from Harry Kewell's pre Luton Town press

The key talking points from the Head Coach's Hatters preview

20 October 2017

Head Coach Harry Kewell spoke to iFollow Crawley ahead of tomorrow's clash with Luton Town, and we've picked out the key points from the Australian's preview.

No better game to play…

“There is no better game for us to rebound on and play the best team in the league.

“I think the fans will come out in their numbers and I know Luton will bring a big following and it’s going to be a great game.

“Hopefully we can see a proper football game because they’ve got the players to play football and let’s see if they can do that against us.”

Familiar faces…

“He’s [Nathan Jones] put together a great squad, a very attacking squad; he’s virtually taken all the best strikers in the league!

“They’ve obviously got our main striker from last year, who is scoring goals so hopefully he doesn’t come back to haunt us.”

Pressure on the top Hatters…

“It’s going to be a tough game for us but the pressure is on them to come here and get the three points.

“In a weird way it’s sort of a free game for us because unfortunately our results at home aren’t great but that’s where we are at the moment.”

Fan frustration…

“The crowd have to understand this is a new way of playing for these players.”

“It’s about not being frustrated, not lumping the ball up there because unfortunately we don’t have our target man available at the moment.

“We haven’t had someone up front to hold the ball up and link in play so we have to bide our time and wait for opportunities.

Thomas and co on the road to recovery…

“Thomas [Verheydt] is looking good, we’ve been given the all clear by the specialist and he’s feeling no pain so hopefully he’ll be involved very soon.

“Mark Randall is back from his ankle injury but he needs to get up to speed on his fitness.

“Lewis Young is coming along nicely and the medical staff are working hard to get him back up and running so he’s not far away.

“The same with Dean Cox, he’s been ill and then had a hamstring problem but again it’s just getting these players back up to match fitness.”
