Harry Kewell was pleased with the spirit and determination his team showed in Saturday's 0-0 draw away to Grimsby Town.
The Reds had chances to win the contest in the north-east, but were also dealt some good fortune when Sam Jones missed a first half penalty for the home side.
"Of course we'll say we could have taken some good chances but overall I'm pleased with the result today," he told iFollow Crawley.
"Maybe we had a let off with them missing the penalty too but that's the way this game goes.
"It could have gone either way and perhaps at times I felt we lacked the bit of a spark needed to win the game."
The result made it seven points out of nine in the league away from home and the Australian now highlighted the importance of maintaining that type of form over the next week at the Checkatrade Stadium.
"We've got two home games now and we know how important momentum is," he contined.
"The boys have to keep working hard, prepare correctly and get themselves both mentally and physically prepared for another tough game on Tuesday now."
