"We're positive and looking for a reaction"

Harry Kewell looks ahead to Stevenage on Tuesday evening

11 September 2017

Harry Kewell wants to see a response from his side after the weekend's loss when they travel to Stevenage on Tuesday evening (7-45pm).

The Reds travel to Hertfordshire after Saturday's 3-1 loss to Colchester United looking to bounce back and make it three wins from four in the league in the midweek contest at the Lamex Stadium.

"It's an opportunity to react after Saturday," he told iFollow Crawley.

"We don't want to change what we've been doing too much, but we definitely want a better start than what we had at the weekend.

"Both us and Stevenage will be looking to get back to winning ways after the results at the weekend.

"We know it's going to be a tough and physical game but we'll be well equipped for that and we're looking forward to it."

Kewell's men found themselves three goals down in the first half on Saturday in Essex after a slow start, and the Head Coach pointed to the significance of the opening goal in contests as being crucial in the league.

"The first goal in games in this division is so important," he continued.

"I've felt so far that if we score the first goal then teams come out of their shell and games open up.

"But we're still working on our gameplan overall - I've said from day one that this wouldn't be  a quick turnaround.

"I just feel like we still need to be a bit more clinical and start taking our chances - if we start to do that then we'll be fine."

Jordan Roberts missed the game on Saturday afternoon against Colchester United, as did Mark Connolly - while Thomas Verheydt was also absent through injury.

"We'll be looking to adjust a few things," Harry revealed.

"There's a lot of games in a short space of time and you don't want to burn out players.

"Players quite rightly always want to play - but there's a lots of factors you have to consider when you choose a team - including upcoming games like the one at the weekend as well.

"Whichever team I choose I want my team to approach the game positively."
