HEAD TO HEAD: OLDHAM ATHLETIC

30 August 2018

Oldham wins: 2

Draws: 2

Crawley wins: 2

Oldham goals: 5

Crawley goals: 6

Crawley and Oldham have met six times, all previously in Sky Bet League One. The spoils have been shared on two occasions, with two wins for each side in the other four matches.

They first met back in October 2012, when Jose Baxter and Kyle McFadzean scored in a 1-1 draw at the Broadfield Stadium, in a game that also saw a red card apiece for Jean Yves M’voto and Hope Akpan. The return fixture in the North West saw the Latics pick up a 2-1 win, which was enough for them to survive relegation from League One. M’voto scored a stoppage time winner in that one after Mark Connolly had leveled with ten minutes to go.

Joe Walsh’s 7th minute header was enough to win the next fixture the following season as the Reds ran out 1-0 winners, while Oldham won the corresponding fixture by the same score line with Danny Philliskirk grabbing the only goal.

The 2014/15 season was the first in which the Reds went undefeated against the Latics, drawing 1-1 at Boundary Park thanks to Gwion Edwards equaliser. The Reds won a huge game in April 2015 against the Latics, in a match that was dubbed a ‘six pointer.’ Izale McLeod and Richard Wood both scored in the first half to pull the Reds out of the relegation zone heading into the final few games of the season.
