Five things you should know ahead of Saturday's game

23 February 2018

Forest Green's top League scorer is Christian Doidge (pictured) with 15 goals to his name this season. Previously with Dagenham & Redbridge, Doidge appeared 46 times during his two-year spell at the Daggers. The striker joined Forest Green in the summer of 2016 when they were in the National League.

Forest Green are currently 20th in League Two, with 33 points from as many games. However, victories against both Coventry and Stevenage, and a point away at Morecambe leaves them in good form with seven points from their last three fixtures. Mark Cooper’s side are also looking to make it five wins in a row at home on Saturday, as Reds did after last Saturday’s win over Lincoln.

Manager Mark Cooper revamped his Forest Green side during the summer. Reece Brown and Charlie Cooper joined from Championship side Birmingham and midfielder Callum Evans signed from Barnsley. Cooper then invested again in January, with striker Reuben Reid from Exeter City their principal arrival.

The Reds are now looking to make it two wins in a row following the 3-1 victory at home to Lincoln last weekend. Currently ninth in the table, they sit four points off the last play-off spot. Our record away in Forest Green is mixed, with two trips to New Lane ending in a 3-0 win as well as a 2-0 loss, both coming during our time in the Conference.

Harry Kewell will be without Dutch striker Thomas Verheydt, who limped off during our win at home against Lincoln last weekend. The striker has picked up a knee injury, with the manager hoping to get the big man back as soon as possible. Apart from Verheydt, there are no new injury concerns for the Reds.
