Harry: Preparation key for longest trip of the season

15 March 2018

Good preparation can help Reds get a positive result against Carlisle United on Saturday, according to Head Coach Harry Kewell.

For most long away trips the Reds travel overnight on Friday, but they set off on Thursday morning to start the 688-mile round journey to Brunton Park.

HK explained: "To do that journey in a day, with all the usual issues of Friday traffic on the motorways, as well as train would be a big ask of the players.

"The club appreciate that so we have travelled today and will have an overnight stop in Cheshire. We will then train on Friday locally before heading up to Carlisle.

"It breaks the journey, allows the players to get decent rest and hopefully it can contribute towards a good performance on Saturday."

Reds will have to make one enforced change to the side which drew 1-1 with Morecambe on Saturday as Josh Yorwerth starts a two-match suspension having accumulated ten bookings.

"That's a blow, but it gives opportunity to others," added Harry.
