The Carlisle pair who played for us when we last won at Brunton Park

15 March 2018

Two Carlisle United players were plying their trade for Reds on the only occasion we've picked up three points at Brunton Park.

Nicky Adams and Mike Jones were in a Crawley side managed by Richie Barker which won 2-0 on our first visit to Carlisle as a League club for a League One clash in September 2012.

And Adams was on target in the second half to make it 2-0 with a deflected shot after Nathan Byrne had put Crawley in front just before the hour-mark with a strike from the edge of the box.

Our team that day was: Paul Jones, Mat Sadler, Hope Akpan, Gary Alexander, Josh Simpson, Joe Walsh, Nicky Ajose (Forte 88), Nicky Adams, Nathan Byrne, Mike Jones (Dannie Bulman 84), Davis. Unused subs: Mark Connolly, Billy Clarke, Sergio Torres, David Hunt, Michel Kuipers.

Both Adams and Jones are in their second seasons with Carlisle, having joined from Northampton and Oldham respectively in the summer of 2017.

'MJ' has been a regular this season with 45 appeaerances but Adams hasn't figured since injuring his knee against Yeovil in November and is out for the rest of the season.

The following year - November 2013 - Clarke came off the bench to rescue a point with an 88th-minute goal in a 1-1 draw at Carlisle.

Since then our two trips to Cumbria have ended in 3-1 defeats.

Rhys Murphy scored there in October 2016 and Mark Connolly got a last-minute consolation 13 months later.
