SUMMER UPDATE #1 WITH KELLY DERHAM

12 May 2018

Latest news from behind the scenes with the club's Operations Director

Dear supporter

I’m planning to write regular updates throughout the summer with what is happening behind the scenes. If you have any specific questions you’d like answered please email feedback@crawleytownfc.com

Player contracts

Discussions are taking place with those out of contract and players we want to offer new contracts too. This can often be a lengthy process but it’s important that we take our time over any decisions we make. The discussions involve Selim, our Director of Football, Harry, Warren and we’ll issue updates as and when decisions have been finalised.

Sponsorship

As announced by their former MD Kevin Byrne at the Presentation Dinner, our main sponsors Checkatrade have ended their agreement and we thank them for their tremendous support over the last few years.

Negotiations with a new main sponsor have been successfully concluded and we will be announcing this exciting news later this summer.

Next season’s kit

We are delighted to be partnering with Errea for the 2018-19 season. At this stage, the plan is to launch our new kit at the same time as our announcement about a main sponsor. Errea will also be providing us with an exciting new range of training, team and leisure wear which will be on sale in the Club Shop and online in July. Meanwhile, we are offering this season’s Errea stock at reduced prices in the Shop and online at the moment so make sure you grab a bargain while stocks last.

Stadium pitch

Work on the biggest pitch renovation project we have had at the stadium since it was built in 1997 starts on May 21. As you wmayll be aware, we are hosting home games for Brighton & Hove Albion’s women’s team next season and we are confident that we will have a vastly improved surface throughout the season that can cope with the additional fixtures and provide Harry with a pitch that encourages the type of football he wants to play. I will update supporters further once the work has started.

Pre-season friendlies

Because of the pitch renovation project, we are limited to the number of pre-season games at home. We are working on various options for a game on Saturday July 28.

To give the squad the best possible preparation for next season, Harry wants to only play teams of a higher level to ourselves in pre-season. We will be playing some closed-doors games and we are trying to arrange another ‘home’ fixture at East Grinstead Town FC. Again, more will be announced when we firm up our plans.

Next season’s League 2 fixtures will be announced on June 22.

Season tickets

As you know, these went on sale earlier this month and we are pleased with the early uptake after freezing prices for the fourth year in a row. We are working on some other ticketing initiatives to try and attract more people to Crawley as well as enhancing the matchday experience, including the long overdue relaunch of Junior Reds. I’ll keep you posted.

Enjoy your summer and I will update you again soon - Kelly.
