CREWE BOSS WARY OF REDS' THREAT EVEN WITHOUT OLLIE PALMER

22 November 2018

Crewe boss David Artell won’t be underestimating Reds this weekend when the sides meet in League 2 action at the Broadfield Stadium.

His opposite number – Reds’ Head Coach Gabriele Cioffi – has one change to make at least to his team with 11-goal top scorer Ollie Palmer serving a one-match ban for accumulating five bookings.

But Artell is still aware of the threat Reds pose, especially at home where we have only lost once since the opening day of the season.

Artell was in the crowd on Tuesday when Reds held League One Southend to a 2-2 draw in the FA Cup first round replay before we conceded four goals in extra time.

Artell told Crewe’s website: “Crawley play some good football. I don’t know their manager too well but he wants them to play football when they can. They are at home and will be expecting to win.

“They are without their leading goal scorer because he is suspended. Any team would miss their leading striker but it will give someone else an opportunity and they are certainly not all about Ollie Palmer anyway.

“If we can play like we did against Tranmere (won 3-2 last Saturday) then we have to believe we can be a match for anyone in this league and that is how we are looking at it this weekend.”
