GABY: WE GO THERE TO WIN

12 October 2018

The Head Coach has spoken to the club's media ahead of Saturday's clash with Colchester United, and believes the home side will be a tough opponent.

On tough opposition…

“Of course we will prepare for this game in the same way we always prepare. Obviously, we go there and we go to win, but if you get a draw at somewhere like Colchester, you can be happy because it’s a tough place to go.”

“They have some great players and a good manager and I think they will want to improve their consistency as I don’t think they have won two in a row yet this season. They will want to change that, but we need to counteract it.”

On away support…

“I really enjoy it when our fans get going. We should have quite a good number there tomorrow so hopefully they will make lots of noise. The fans I have met since joining the club have been nothing but good to me and I want us to do well for them.”

On winning when not at our best…

“Cambridge were much the better team on Saturday but we managed to win 2-0, and that says a lot about our squad, that even on bad days we have the ability to win, and that pleases me.”

On improving results on the road…

“I saw us beat Lincoln and that was great result. Since I’ve come in I’ve been satisfied with our away performances. We were deservedly beaten by the better team at Forest Green, but Notts County was probably one of best displays of the season yet we lost that too, so obviously I’m looking for an improvement in the results.”

But keeping up performances…

“We have to maintain our performance levels from the past few games. We played really well on Tuesday against Portsmouth and I was really proud of my players despite losing.”

A nod to the younger players…

“The young players did really well. David Sesay earned man of the match on Tuesday and that is really pleasing for me as he is a player I know who can still develop very well. Brian Galach and Tarryn [Allarakhia] also had great games.”
