GABY ON SATURDAY'S TRANMERE TEST

26 October 2018

Head Coach looks ahead to Saturday's trip to Prenton Park

On building on two good home results …

That is the objective on Saturday. We played well against Newport and Exeter, we could have had six points but we settle for four and more importantly two good performances.

I have said it many times. Good teams, successful teams have consistency. They have the desire and ability to build unbeaten runs. That is the challenge for us on Saturday.

Another tough opponent …

Tranmere? A strong, strong side. They have won promotion and carried momentum over from last season. We have looked at their strengths and weaknesses and they have a lot of talent and experience, plus they are at home with a big crowd behind them. So, a hard game for us for sure, but we are positive going into it. We are playing well. We want this to continue.

Getting the balance right on the road …

Against Notts County and Colchester we played well. We should have had some points from these games. We try to attack teams away, that is how I want my team to play. But there is another side to the team too. We saw this at Lincoln where we worked very hard, defended strong – as a team and not just the defence – and got a great result. If we can find that balance we can get results away from home. This has to start tomorrow.

Team changes ...

No Bondz (N’Gala) for one more game. Also, Josh Payne is suspended for one game for five yellow cards. So, one change for sure. I have options in the midfield area, it is a strong part of the squad for us. All 14 players we use tomorrow must be prepared to play, to follow the game plan and work hard for the club and their team-mates. This is a minimum for my players and they have done this so far and I am confident we will do it again tomorrow.

Away support …

I spoke to some of the fans on Thursday in the office and heard that they start their journey before the milk arrives! I salute them. They have to follow the team at great expense and we thank them for their support tomorrow. Let’s hope they travel back having seen a good performance and a performance that is rewarded with points.
