GABY: NOW LET'S TURN PERFORMANCES INTO POINTS

Head Coach looks ahead to Saturday's trip to Yeovil

11 April 2019

Head Coach Gabriele Cioffi has challenged the squad to turn 'performances into points' - starting with Saturday's game at Yeovil Town.

Six points separate 20th-placed Reds from 23rd-placed Yeovil, who dropped into the relegation zone after Macclesfield's 3-2 win over Exeter on Tuesday.

Reds have played well in recent weeks and performances certainly haven't been reflected in their points haul.

Gaby said: "We are going there with the confidence of  good performances against Morecambe and Forest Green (in our last two games). What we have to do now is match performances with results. And I believe we have the will and desire in the squad to do that.

"People can say it (Yeovil) is a winnable game for both teams, but I believe this before every game, especially in this League.

"We want to close this season as soon as we can – the players, the club and myself. We are playing good football and have good ideas when we go onto the pitch but I recognise that we also need to get results, and maybe have a little bit of luck go our way as well."

Gaby revealed that there were no recriminations after the 2-1 defeat to Forest Green Rovers last Saturday. Instead he thanked them for their efforts.

"After the game everyone was frustrated," he added. "When you play at the level we did on Saturday and you lose it hurts, everyone wants to enjoy a week as a winner not a loser.

"We all know it wasn’t a normal game and you could say it has not been a normal season. What could I do after Saturday? All I could do was shake the players’ hands and thank them for their performance and then it was head down this week so we are ready to challenge Yeovil on Saturday."

Reds welcome Matty Willock, Luke Gambin, Ibrahim Meite and Josh Doherty after injury but Josh Payne and fellow midfielder Jimmy Smith are unavailable because of injury.
