Look out for our new-look matchday programme on Saturday when we play our first home EFL game of the season against Salford City.
As supporters may be aware, it is no longer a requirement by clubs to produce a match day programme.
During the summer the club considered all its options. Sales of our programme have been declining for several years as fans increasingly look to social media and our website for the latest information on the club, particularly on matchdays.
Last season we sold to an average of 13% of the home crowd with sales to away supporters often in single figures.
Communications Manager Bruce Talbot explained: "That average sale figure hasn't really budged for a few years now. Not only does it not make producing a programme cost-effective, there are other factors we consider not least the time it takes to write and produce a programme. We have taken the decision that it is time which can be better spent getting out messages from the club through social media, email and our website.
"We will be producing a programme this season but it will be 16 pages with only two pages of ads. It will contain many of the usual features including notes from Gaby and Kelly, Retro Reds, a player interview, Memory Match and Junior Reds. It will be on sale for just £1."
