PREVIEW: CREWE

20 August 2019

A look ahead to tonight's match at The People's Pension Stadium

SCENE SETTER

Reds are back at The People's Pension Stadium tonight to take on Crewe Alexandra in Sky Bet League Two, kick off 7.45pm.

THE FORM GUIDE

Both teams are unbeaten in three after losing their first game of the season. Crewe have beaten Oldham 2-1 and Walsall 1-0 in the league and are through to the second round of the Carabao Cup after edging out Middlesbrough on penalties last week following a 2-2 draw. Since losing 2-1 at Carlisle on the opening day Reds have beaten Salford City 2-0, Walsall 3-2 and draw 2-2 at Scunthorpe United.

OPPOSITION VIEW

Crewe boss David Artell was delighted with the resolve his side showed on Saturday in the win over Walsall and will be looking for the same tonight. He said: “We had 11 men, 12, 13 men who have stood up to everything and that has won us the game. There wasn’t too many highlights but it was a hard fought 1-0 win and we defended our box really well. That is the most pleasing thing and I told them afterwards that we are going to play well every week."
