PREVIEW - GRIMSBY TOWN

Everything you need to know as the Reds see out 2019 on the road

28 December 2019

We look ahead to our trip to North Lincolnshire as we face Grimsby Town in our last game of 2019.

Reds will be looking to maintain their Boxing Day form after turning over high flying Northampton 4-0 at The People's Pension Stadium and head coach John Yems will be looking to claim his first away win in charge of the club.

SCENE SETTER:

Crawley produced a superb performance on Boxing Day which saw them overturn then 7th place Northampton 4-0. Goals from Nathan Ferguson, Bez Lubala, Ollie Palmer and Mason Bloomfield sank the Cobblers on what turned out to be a very enjoyable Boxing Day. The win meant Town jumped up two places to 16th in the table.

Grimsby currently occupy 20th in the table. Grimsby haven’t won since September 28 when they beat Exeter away 3-1. Their Boxing Day fixture ended with the spoils shared between themselves and Macclesfield. Joe Ironside had given the hosts the lead when he despatched his penalty in the 49th minute but Charles Vernam equalised 10 minutes later to secure the Mariners a point.

TEAM NEWS:

With no fresh injuries or suspensions picked up at the weekend John Yems has a near fully fit squad to choose from with Reece Grego-Cox still set to miss out.

VIEW FROM THE CAMP:

John Yems: "We're looking to build on the Northampton performance for sure. Every game is different but we'll work with the same levels of effort and intensity and try to take the game to them. If there's not that level of effort, we've got boys waiting in the wings. It's a competitive squad and they all want to play.

It's a long way to go this time of year, but we'll prerpare correctly."
