GABY: 'OUR PERFORMANCE DESERVED MORE TODAY'

12 January 2019

Head Coach Gabriele Cioffi was left frustrated after watching his side go down 2-1 to Stevenage at the Lamex on Saturday.

Dominic Poleon scored his sixth goal of the season either side of two strikes by James Ball for the hosts before the break.

But Crawley dominated the second half, hitting the bar and having two efforts cleared off the line as they took the game to Stevenage.

Gaby said: “A good performance, very good at times but the result is obviously disappointing. We deserved more.

“I thought we did a lot of good things in the game, particularly in the second half, but sometimes little things do not go your way and that is the story of today for us, as our fans who came will know.

"We were on the front foot and created lots of chances, but the two goals are disappointing from our point of view so that is something that has to improve.”

The positives for Reds as well as the performance was a return to action for fit-again Filipe Morais and a 200th Crawley appearance for Lewis Young.

And with another tough away game to come on Tuesday at Mansfield, the Head Coach is pleased to have more selection options.

“We left some good players off the bench today which shows we are slowly getting the players fit and strong, and they will all play a part in the rest of the season,” added Gaby.

“We’re extremely frustrated by the result today because we deserved more but we have to regroup on Monday and look forward to another tough game on Tuesday.

“But if we keep playing like that in the rest of the season we will get results.”
