Crawley Town are delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Matty Willock on loan from Manchester United for the remainder of the 2018/19 season.
Brother of Arsenal midfielder Joe, Matty has experience playing in the Dutch Eredivisie for FC Utrecht, as well as in the Scottish Premiership for St Mirren and St Johnstone.
Having spent time in the academy at the Gunners, he later joined Manchester United at the age of 16 and went on to play domestically for the Under 18's, Under 19's - in the UEFA Youth League - and the Under 23's before being named a substitute for two of United's Premier League games during the 2016-17 season.
He then moved on loan to Utrecht where he featured three times for the senior squad and six times for the 'Jong Utrecht' reserve team in the second tier. It was at St Johnstone where his first senior goal came, after he scored in at Aberdeen in a league game. His six month loan ended at the conclusion of the 2017-18 season. He began this season with St Mirren, making 12 appearances in total.
More recently, he has been action for Manchester United's U23 in their two Premier League International Cup matches against PSV Eindhoven and Paris St Germain.
Director of Football, Selim Gaygusuz said: "We are really excited to have such a young and versatile player like Matty joining us for the rest of the season. Having come from Manchester United, we know that he has been trained by some world class coaches in multi-million pound facilities, so I'm sure he is well prepared to make an impact for us. We really wish him all the best here and hope it is a real success both for him and the club."
Matty will join up with the squad on Thursday and is expected to be available for Saturday's trip to Bury FC.
