GABRIELE: ANOTHER GOOD TEST FOR US TONIGHT AGAINST MANSFIELD

12 March 2019

Head Coach Gabriele Cioffi says the Reds are looking forward to a run of tough games, starting tonight at home to Mansfield Town at The People’s Pension Stadium (7.45pm).

The Stags dropped out of the automatic promotion places after losing 2-1 at Port Vale on Saturday, but they have the best defensive record in the league and have only lost six times all season.

Their visit is followed by a tough trip to home specialists Crewe is followed by a meeting with leaders Lincoln City.

But Gaby believes his squad will relish the challenges ahead, especially after producing such a solid display on Saturday in the 2-1 win over Grimsby.

“For us Grimsby was very important – a good result of course but also a very good performance so everyone could enjoy Sunday for a change!” he said.

“You can see in training on Monday how much this result has helped us. It has given us confidence and we are going to need to have a good spirit and organisation for the next few games.

“We worry about Crewe and Lincoln later. The focus is on Mansfield. They are a tough opponent and they don’t let many goals in. But when we played them a few weeks ago we caused them problems and we feel we can do that again tonight.”

Ollie Palmer will again face one of his former clubs four days after his double against another ex-employer in Grimsby helped Reds secure their victory.

“Ollie played well but for me it was a team performance with lots of chances created," added Gabriele. "This is what we will need again tonight and if we get it we can get a good result for sure.”
