REECE NOMINATED FOR IRELAND AWARD

18 March 2019

Reece Grego-Cox just missed out on the Young Player of the Year accolade at the Republic of Ireland awards ceremony in Dublin on Sunday.

The Reds’ striker had been nominated for his performance for the Republic’s under-21s and attended the dinner with his Mum Gina and girlfriend Megan Edwards.

The award was won by Portsmouth forward Ronan Curtis but Reece, who joined the club at the start of the season, was among the nominees.

The 22-year-old is no longer eligible to play for the under-21s, having made 11 appearances for his country since debuting in 2015.

His aim now is to play consistently well at club level and force his way into Mick McCarthy’s senior squad.

He said: “I really enjoyed playing for Ireland and it definitely improved me as a player. It was nice to get nominated for the award, a proud moment for me and my family.

“Now I want to kick on at Crawley and hopefully I can force my way into the full squad soon.”
