KELLY'S LINCOLN PROGRAMME NOTES

A FEW WORDS FROM THE OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

25 March 2019

Good afternoon and welcome to this afternoon’s game against Lincoln City.

Lincoln are on course for promotion having led the table for much of the season. It seems a very long time ago that we went up there and won 1-0 and we’d obviously settle for a similar outcome this afternoon! It’s been a long week after last Saturday’s heavy loss at Crewe but I am sure the players will produce the response everyone is looking for today.

A reminder that we’re staging our first ever women’s game next Sunday (March 31) here at the People’s Pension Stadium when Crawley Wasps take on Billericay in the FA Women’s League. They won 8-0 last Sunday to close in on another promotion so the Billericay game is shaping up to be a promotion decider. It should be a great occasion and a good showcase both for the Wasps and women’s football. We’re opening the West Stand and you can buy tickets directly from the club or via our website, priced £5 adults and £1 concessions. I hope you will come along and give them your support.

We’re also delighted to be hosting what should be a great night on Wednesday April 10 when our former favourite Sergio Torres is here to show his film ‘The Unknown Torres’. Sergio will be doing a Q&A with supporters afterwards and the event starts at 7pm. You can buy tickets now from the Box Office and they will be on sale on the night if any are remaining. We are limited to a capacity of 150 and tickets are already selling well so pop in or give us a ring to book yours. It should be a fantastic night.

And looking a bit further ahead, our end of season Awards Dinner is booked in for Tuesday April 30 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. This is always a fun night and the entire playing and coaching staff will be in attendance and sitting among our guests. The ticket price of £69.99 includes a welcome drink, gourmet three-course meal and half a bottle of wine. There is also a disco and, of course, the all-important awards culminating in the Player of the Year award. Voting for this and the Goal of the Season will begin on our website and across our social media channels at the beginning of April.

Close-season and pre-season planning is already well under way. We are very close to securing a new training ground site and hope to be announcing details soon and we’re starting work on our pre-season friendly schedule. Pitch renovation work prevented us from having more than one game before the start of this season but we’re looking at three Saturday games starting on July 13.

The priority and focus for now, though, is ensuring we can plan for a ninth season as a Football League club. We still have a lot of work to do and there are some very important games to come, not least todays. Please get behind the boys from first whistle to last.
