GABY: MORE TO COME FROM MATTY

4 March 2019

Gabriele Cioffi has praised the impact of Matt Willock on the squad - and explained why the midfielder had to come off in the second half of Saturday's 1-0 loss at MK Dons.

Willock has started the last two games after joining the club in January from Manchester United and impressed in both matches.

But he had to come off after 63 minutes at Stadium MK and Gaby revealed: "We have to remember that Matty has only played three games in the last two months. His last start before Morecambe was on November 2 for St Mirren.

"So he is still getting up to full fitness but on Saturday he was sick in the dressing room at half-time. He is a strong character and wanted to carry on in the second half but he ran out of energy.

"But I have been really pleased with how he has done. He was the main player I wanted to bring in during the January window and he is only going to get better and better with more games and training. I don't think we have seen the best of Matty yet - he has got a lot of potential."
