EX-RED WES COULD BE ONE TO WATCH ON SATURDAY

4 March 2019

Reds fans will be hoping one of their former players doesn't come back to haunt us on Saturday when we take on Grimsby Town in Sky Bet League 2 at The People's Pension Stadium.

Wes Thomas will always have a place in Reds' history after scoring one of the goals in our first home game as a League club when he added to Tyrone Barnett's opener in the 2-0 win over Macclesfield in August 2011.

Thomas had become one of Steve Evans' first signings after promotion to the League when he joined us in June 2011 from Cheltenham Town.

But his Crawley career lasted just three months. With Barnett and Matt Tubbs established as our front two, he only made six appearances - with just two starts - before leaving in September 2011 and joining AFC Bournemouth.

Since then Wes has played for Portsmouth, Blackpool, Birmingham City, Rotherham, Swindon Town, Bradford City and Oxford United. He joined the Mariners last summer and has scored 11 goals this season, including three in his last six games.
