Crawley Town Football Club are delighted to announce that we have reached an agreement, subject to a medical and the agreement of further terms, with Sam Matthews regarding a two year contract, with the club holding the option of a third year.

Matthews, 23, will officialy join the club in August having been released by League 1 Bristol Rovers.

Matthews, a midfielder, was born in Poole and started his career with John Yems at AFC Bournemouth and has subsequently enjoyed loan spells at Braintree and most recently Eastleigh.

After reaching an agreement, Head Coach John Yems said: "I'm really pleased the club reached an agreement with Sam, he's a good young player and I've known him a long time. I'm sure he'll fit in well with the rest of the lads and will certainly add value across the midfield. It's a bit of a coup for us in all honesty."

Technical Director Erdem Konyar said: "Sam brings quality and creativity to the squad. The existing positive relationship with John is a massive plus which will bring out the best in Sam. It’s an exciting signing for the club."
