CARABAO CUP AND PAPA JOHNS TROPHY DRAW INFORMATION

More information on this afternoon’s draw for both the Carabao Cup first round and Papa Johns Trophy group stage.

24 June 2021

Carabao Cup:

The draw for the first round of the Carabao Cup will take place at 15:40 this afternoon. The Reds will feature in the southern section of the draw, where they have been handed ball number 13.

Clubs from the Championship League One and League Two are involved in the first round draw which takes place live on Sky Sports at 15:40. A stream will also be provided on the official Carabao Cup Twitter page. Premier League clubs will enter the competition in Round Two with clubs that have qualified for the Champions League or Europa League joining in Round Three.

Crawley hosted Championship side Millwall in the first round of the 2020/21 competition, losing out 3-1 on the day, Sam Ashford scoring the only goal for the Reds.

Papa Johns Trophy:

The Papa Johns Trophy is also separated into a northern and southern section, but unlike the Carabao Cup, the Papa Johns Trophy begins with a group stage. Each group consists of three teams from League One and League Two, who are then joined by one of the invited category one academies from either the Premier League or the Championship.

The Reds have already been placed in Group G in the southern section alongside Charlton Athletic and Leyton Orient. The draw to complete the group will take place this afternoon at 16:30 live on Sky Sports and the official Papa Johns Trophy Twitter account.

Crawley exited the competition at the group stage last season. Three points against League One Ipswich on the final night was not enough to see John Yems’ side progress to the knockout stages.
