REPORT | BRACKNELL TOWN 5-1 CRAWLEY TOWN B

B team lose out in first fixture.

2 August 2022

Crawley Town B team played their first match this evening as they lost out to Bracknell Town at the SB Stadium. Aramide Oteh gave the Reds the lead, but two quickfire goals before half-time gave the home side the lead at the break. Bracknell added three more in the second half while the Reds made numerous changes.

The B team started the match well and were unfortunate not to take the lead within the opening two minutes. Aramide Oteh made a brilliant run towards goal, which allowed the striker to lay the ball off inside the box for a Crawley trialist. The Bracknell town goalkeeper made an excellent reflex save to deny the Reds an early opener.

Oteh had a chance for himself moments later but fired an effort wide of the target after the trialist had returned the favour with a perfectly weighted through ball.

Bracknell were enjoying several decent spells of possession but were failing to challenge the Crawley trialist in between the sticks. Several shots were fired way over the bar as both sides battled for the opening goal.

The opening goal came soon enough, and it did come Crawley’s way. Oteh raced through on goal from the halfway line and caressed a beautiful effort past the Bracknell goalkeeper with the outside of his boot.

The lead didn’t last long, however, as the home side equalised just minutes later. Crawley’s trialist goalkeeper was caught short at the back, which allowed a Bracknell striker to tap into an empty net and level the score.

Bracknell took the lead on the stroke of halftime after a set piece made its way to the back post. A free-kick was whipped into the Crawley area with pace and made its way past a large amount of Crawley and Bracknell players before being poked home at the far post.

Bracknell resumed their dominance in the second half as Crawley began to struggle to put a string of attacking passes together. Soon enough, Bracknell added a third. The home team’s frontman finished off a neat move from inside the penalty area.

Lewis Young made plenty of changes in the second half as Szymon Kowalczyk, Florian Kastrati, Zaid Al-Hussaini, Mustafa Hussein, Ronan Silva and Owen Gallacher were all introduced.

Bracknell added a fourth with a similar move that resulted in a Bracknell player having plenty of time to stroke the ball into the back of the net. The fifth was added just before the full-time whistle to wrap up the affair.

STARTING XI: Trialist, Ransom, Adebowale, Francillette, Wells, Davis, Moe, Khaleel, Trialist, Trialist, Oteh
