CRAWLEY EXIT SUSSEX SENIOR CUP AFTER PENALTIES DEFEAT

The Reds have been knocked out of the competition on penalties to Hastings United

15 November 2022

Crawley were knocked out of the Sussex Senior Cup on penalties this evening to Isthmian Premier Division side Hastings United at the Pilot Field.

The game was not an eventful spectacle and despite a few efforts from both sides to get ahead, it ended goalless after 90 minutes.

Hastings proved to be a tough side to break down and they had a flurry of late chances of their own formed from set-pieces.

Both sides defended well and struggled to create goalscoring opportunities, with Ransom and Chukwuemeka coming closest within the 90 minutes for the Reds.

Crawley’s first two penalties of the shootout failed the hit the back of the net, with Mark Marshall’s low effort being saved before David Bremang struck wide.

Hastings missed one penalty of their own but won the shoutout 4-3 despite converted penalties from Wells, Mason and Oteh.

We wish Hastings United all the best in the competition going forward.

Crawley XI: Addai, Johnson, Mazeed, Ransom, Mason, Wells, Khaleel (Kastrati 46´), Davis, Marshall, Chukwuemeka (Bremang 72´), Oteh.
