PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Jack Powell
Midfielder Jack Powell secured his first player of the season award at Crawley after a fantastic year in tough circumstances on the field. The fans voted online and Jack won the vote convincingly, after playing 44 of 45 league games so far this campaign under five different managers.
Powell scored four league goals this season with three being nominated for goal of the season. He also recorded five assists and displayed some fantastic individual performances as a crucial senior player for the squad.
Our number eight was given the award by Manager Scott Lindsey after the game against Walsall on Saturday. Powell said jokingly, “my favourite goal was against Swindon because with the amount of quality that I showed in that goal, the gaffer saw it and thought I just desperately want to coach that.” Lindsey made the move from Swindon Town to Crawley shortly after that victory, and guided the Red Devils to safety.
PLAYERS’ PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Ashley Nadesan
“One of our own” forward Ashley Nadesan received the players’ player award after being voted the most by his teammates on his performances for the Reds this season.
The 28-year-old has spent four seasons at the club now, and much like fellow award winner Jack Powell, has gained the respect and admiration of his teammates as a more senior, experienced figure this season.
Nadesan has played 41 league games this season, scoring seven in the league and assisting six. Ashley explained that his favourite goal was the one scored in our first away win of the season at AFC Wimbledon, a result that got us a step closer to League Two safety in front of a very impressive away crowd.
YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Harry Ransom
Defender Harry Ransom picked up his first individual award at the club after being voted best young player by the fans for this season.
With a surplus of defenders fit at the beginning of the campaign under then manager Kevin Betsy, Ransom had to stay patient to earn a place in the XI. The defender impressed in friendlies and Papa John’s Trophy games before being involved much more as the season progressed.
Ransom starred in Crawley’s 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Premier League Fulham, and was many people's player of the match that day. He also impressed away to Burnley in the same competition before having a run of solid games in the league over the winter.
He started our last six league games under Lindsey where Crawley achieved four clean sheets. A terrific run from an always improving player for the Reds.
CLUBMAN OF THE YEAR
Ross Evans
Strength & Conditioning intern Ross Evans joined the club at the beginning of the season in a year’s placement away from university. He studied and learned from previous S&C coach Jason Moriarty who left the club in the earlier stages of the season.
From then, young Ross took on an unexpected role of leading the S&C at the club, and was supported by both Lewis Young and then Scott Lindsey within his role. Evans’ determination, reliability, work ethic and personality were examples of many reasons as to why he was given the clubman award, presented by general manager Tom Allman.
GOAL OF THE SEASON
Dom Telford
It was no real surprise that Telford’s second strike against Hartlepool United just a few weeks ago would be voted as the season’s best, despite the number of quality finishes from this season as a whole.
It was an inch-perfect long ball forward from Corey Addai which sailed over the last defender's head and onto the foot of Telford, who cushioned the ball with a touch that many Premier League striker’s would fail, before curling calmly past the goalkeeper, wrapping up a crucial away result to keep Crawley in the football league. A moment that will surely be remembered by Crawley fans forever.
