Ex-Reds on the move

16 June 2014

Catching up with our former players

Reds’ legend Dannie Bulman has moved to AFC Wimbledon on a free transfer. The 35-year-old midfielder represented Crawley on over 300 occasions during two spells and after his return in 2010 he helped Reds to two successive promotions.

Dannie's move to the Dons signals a return to League Two for the former Oxford man. Dannie originally joined Crawley on loan from Stevenage in 2006 and joined permanently at the end of that season following his departure from Broadhall Way. He previously played for Wycombe Wanderers and Ashford Town (Middlesex).

Former Crawley right back Ben Judge has moved clubs by transferring to Kent League Sevenoaks. 'Judgey' enjoyed seven seasons here following his arrival from Croydon in 2001 and made over 200 appearances before moving to Bromley during the 2007-08 campaign. He went on to play for AFC Wimbledon, Tonbridge and Hastings United.

Continuing with the right back theme, Glenn Wilson's Salisbury City career has been thrown into turmoil following the Wiltshire side's demotion from the Conference to the Conference South. The Reds’ favourite played 150 times between 2007-12 and was part of our two promotions from the top tier of non-league to League One before being released. During his time with Crawley, Wilson spent time on loan at Fleetwood Town and Woking – who both ended up promoted from their respective divisions – so, technically, Glenn achieved three promotions in one season!

In the Conference, former Crawley loan striker Jon Shaw has returned to Gateshead following two years at League Two newcomers Luton Town. Jon joined Crawley on loan from Rochdale in 2009 and played 17 games, scoring five times – one of which was a dramatic last minute equaliser against Ebbsfleet United in a 4-4 draw at Stonebridge Road. Jon took in spells with Barrow and Gateshead on loan before joining Mansfield Town on a free transfer in 2010 for six months. He then spent two seasons at Gateshead, scoring 45 goals in 79 games before moving to Luton.

Finally, Mike Jones has moved to Oldham on a two-year deal following his Crawley departure. Mike was a regular in the side under both Richie Barker and then John Gregory during his two years here and in total, appeared almost 60 times, finding the back of the net on five occasions. Mike joined Crawley for an undisclosed fee from Sheffield Wednesday in 2012.
