Vaporized and Reds to kick the habit forever

2 September 2017

In a groundbreaking partnership, Vaporized the UK’s largest e-cigarette retailer has joined forces with Crawley Town FC to launch a campaign to make the Sussex side become the world’s first smoke-free club.

The aim is to reduce cigarette consumption to zero amongst fans, staff and stakeholders of the club. To further promote the message of switching to e-cigarettes, Vaporized have become the official social media team-sheet partner for Crawley Town FC delivering the team news for Football League Two fixtures.

Recent studies surrounding the vaping market have concluded that e-cigarettes are much safer than conventional cigarettes. Dr Lion Shahab senior lecturer in the department of epidemiology and public health at UCL said:

“We’ve shown that the levels of toxic chemicals in the body from e-cigarettes are considerably lower than suggested in previous studies using simulated experiments. Our results also suggest that while e-cigarettes are not only safer, the amount of nicotine they provide is not noticeably different to conventional cigarettes”.

“This can help people to stop smoking altogether by dealing with their cravings in a safer way”.

His Worship, the Mayor of Crawley, councillor Brian Quinn, spoke of the #RetireYourLighter campaign:

“It’s great to see private businesses being proactive in solving local issues across Crawley. A reduction of smokers in our area means the healthier our community will become. This can only be a good thing for Crawley residents.

Kelly Derham, Operations Director at Crawley Town FC, said: “Whilst we as a club have high ambitions on the pitch, we also have great hopes and aspirations for our fan base and the community at large. This initative to make us the first smoke-free football club in the world is one we are delighted to be a part of and we will strive to achieve our goals.”

Marketing Manager at Vaporized, Pamela Cunningham, said:

“After launching our 100th store we really wanted to give something back to the community, especially since Crawley has the highest smoking rates in West Sussex. Creating the world’s first smoke-free football club is an ambitious aim and after seeing the efforts of local anti-smoking initiatives, we really want to make a difference”

Vaporized will have a screen outside the Checkatrade Stadium to engage with fans and further promote the benefits of switching to e-cigarettes.

Vaporized and Crawley Town FC have laid down the gauntlet to other clubs across the UK and the world. Fans, retire your lighter, ditch your matches and inhale the freedom.
